Joshua, I went to the suggestions page, but it's not set to post in.

I wanted to say, I tried to upload my avatar, but the board software isn't automatically adjusting the size.

PS Joshua, can the avatar settings be set to allow both .gif as well as .jpg formats? I got the bright idea to just copy my avatar from sb and save it to upload because it's already set for the right dimensions, but this board software was expecting a .jpg format, and wouldn't take the .gif format. .gif formats tend to use less memory/space.

It appears that it will not be able to automatically adjust the size down to fit. It may be able to be adjusted up, once you have it loaded in.

Now you should be able to load your pic as a gif. I put in some odd head avatar just to make sure.

I think we can now all relate to how the Israeli's felt in 1948 when they got their own little country after being maltreated for 2,000 years....

Can you tell if it is due to size? Or something else?

If it's a size problem I'll fix it for you if you want to email it to me or something.

Yeah it's the size:

The submitted avatar is 160 pixels wide and 120 pixels high. Avatars must be at least 20 pixels wide and 20 pixels high, but no larger than 90 pixels wide and 90 pixels high.
Thx

Josh, would you do one for me? It is too large also. I'm on my son's Mac and can't figure out how to accomplish much on this thing.

I could add the URL here-

[url]http://www.messianicjudaism.me/agenda/files/Ps119160-1-1.jpg/[url]

well now I can't get the link to show up clickable.

I will, but I can't get that link. I copied it out and into my browser, but get a 404.

I can find my way all the way to the agenda portion of that site, but then can't figure our where you went.

Anyway.... if you can get me a link I will fix your pic for you.

Thank you Josh. Let me try for the webpage. The photo is a ways down on the page.

Trying again for the picture, that one might work.

ETA: Ok, think that might work. :)

Joshua, I decided to try a 'new' pix for my avatar, but I can't tell if it worked.

I don't think it worked.... I can't see it at least.

It has to get down to 90 by 90 pixels to work. I can shrink it for you if you need me to.

Yeah, I couldn't see it either and wondered if it was just me.

So how do I send it to you?

I was able to resolve my avatar issue by using "Gimp", an open source photo editing program.

It turns out that the avatar i wanted to use was in reality a jpg file, renamed as a gif file. This was something that the automatic resizer did over at SB but it confused the software here at this forum.

Once I opened it in gimp, it recognized the improper file extension automatically and fixed it, so I was able to adjust to the size I needed and re-save it, and then upload it without issues.

For those who can't do photoshop, Gimp is a free alternative.

Thank you for the help with my avatar! I can't remember if I thanked you yet or not Joshua, but I don't like to let a kindness go unacknowleged! :s_thumbsup
